The Chess Bros
Empowering Youth, One Move at a Time
We are a student-run nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the game of chess as a way to build confidence, critical thinking, and community among young learners.
Founded in 2022 by two chess-enthusiast brothers in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, our mission is to make chess accessible and engaging for all. What began as local sessions in our hometown has grown into a network of free chess learning programs across New Jersey and even internationally.
Through each program, we aim to empower young minds — one move at a time.
Our Mission
Our mission is to inspire and empower young people through the game of chess. We believe chess is more than just a game—it’s a powerful tool that fosters patience, resilience, creativity, and strategic thinking. By creating free and welcoming learning opportunities, we aim to make chess accessible to students of all backgrounds and skill levels, helping them grow both on and off the board.
Our Values
At the heart of our organization are the values of inclusion, learning, and leadership. We strive to create a supportive environment where every student feels encouraged to take on challenges and celebrate progress. As a youth-led initiative, we believe in the power of students teaching students, and we lead by example—fostering respect, community involvement, and a lifelong love for learning.
