Fair Lawn Library
(Winter 2025)

The Chess Bros led a two-month chess program at the Fair Lawn Library, with both months reaching full capacity. Each session began with interactive puzzle-solving, encouraging students to think critically and teach their peers through demonstration. The energy and engagement were high, with students eager to learn and participate. Members of the Fair Lawn High School Chess Club joined the effort, helping to foster a supportive, skill-building environment. At the end of each month, top students were recognized not just for winning games, but for displaying strong character—earning points through good manners, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Taiwan Summer Chess Camp
(Summer 2023)

The Chess Bros brought a free summer chess camp to Long-Tien Elementary School, a small rural school in Taitung, Taiwan, with fewer than 50 students. The camp served around 25 indigenous students in grades 2 through 6, many of whom come from families where parents work long hours and have limited resources. The Chess Bros taught the kids everything from the basics to tactical play, making chess fun and accessible. To ensure long-term impact, they also helped launch the school’s first chess club using free online platforms like Lichess.org.

Passaic County Chess Workshop
(Summer 2023)

The Chess Bros partnered with the Fair Lawn High School Chess Club to host a free chess workshop at School #21 in Passaic County, NJ, as part of the school’s summer enrichment program. Aimed at introducing chess to young students—many of whom had never played before—the workshop focused on teaching basic moves, strategies, and proper chess etiquette, while emphasizing respect, focus, and sportsmanship. The hands-on, interactive sessions sparked strong interest and engagement. For many students, it was their first time learning chess in a supportive environment. Several participants continued playing beyond the workshop, with some even joining online platforms to keep improving.

FLHS Chess Tournament
(Winter 2022 & Spring 2023)

The Chess Bros organized fundraising chess tournaments at Fair Lawn High School to raise money for purchasing new chess sets for children in need. With strategic outreach and strong community support, the tournaments were a success—attracting enthusiastic players from diverse skill levels. Each participant contributed a small entry fee, and the top three winners received monetary prizes. To ensure fairness, pairings were carefully managed based on players’ experience. Participants shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, and many encouraged their friends to join the chess club!
